When you’re proud of your smile, it shows. People respond to you in a positive way when you smile without fear. If you are embarrassed and try to hide your mouth, you may appear less confident–and we don’t want anyone to hide their smile! Comprehensive Family Dental has several teeth straightening options to fit any lifestyle. Dr. Rainey and Dr. Fritsche are general dentists providing orthodontic services.
Like any health issue, crooked or misaligned teeth affect more than a person’s appearance. It can interfere with speech development, sleep, and the ability to eat a healthy, well-rounded diet. We take a holistic approach to teeth straightening and consider your overall health in the process. We don’t extract teeth to make room for braces and consider how shifting the teeth will impact your breathing. So many patients we see have had orthodontic work in the past yet still suffer from TMJ pain, sleep-disordered breathing, unstable bite, and excessive tooth grinding. It’s our job to make sure your teeth straightening procedure addresses any underlying issues as well. You can be sure you’re in good hands here.
Many patients would love to straighten their teeth but are put off by the bulkiness and “teenage” stigma associated with traditional metal braces. The great news is that Comprehensive Family Dental offers an alternative to traditional braces– Invisalign. You may have heard of clear aligner teeth straightening, but aren’t sure what the process entails or if it is an option for you. Let us tell you more!
Clear aligners are a novel way to straighten teeth without uncomfortable, conspicuous metal braces. Many professionals and adults prefer clear aligners for their discreet appearance and predictable outcomes. Clear aligners are custom-fit for you and your goals for a straighter smile.
If you are interested in Invisalign, we’d love to chat! We’ll first set up a consultation appointment to determine if you’re a good candidate. If you are, we can discuss treatment time, goals, and expenses.
Once treatment begins, we send several images of your teeth and mouth to the Invisalign lab, where a series of clear aligners is fabricated just for you. We fit you with the first pair, and you’re on your way!
Clear aligners are worn 22-24 hours a day and depending on your plan, you move into new aligners every few weeks to continue the gradual movement of your teeth. Once treatment is complete, you won’t believe how much you love your new smile!
Only your doctor can determine for sure if Invisalign will work for you. Invisalign is successful in correcting:
Invisalign is a great option for people who don’t want attention drawn to their orthodontic work. The aligners are clear and are barely noticeable. They are also removable. You remove your aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss. The convenience of Invisalign and the seamless fit into daily life are excellent benefits of the clear aligner system. Invisalign also has a fabulous reputation and millions (six million and counting!) of successful cases. We know Invisalign works and are excited to discuss the option with you.
Clear aligners aren’t just for adults! We offer Invisalign Teen, perfect for teens that don’t want braces disrupting their life. The process and benefits are the same for teens. The one difference is the teen aligners have small blue compliance dots that tell parents if the teen is wearing the aligner like they should.
The wonderful thing about traditional braces is their tried-and-true reputation for amazing results. Braces are often a rite of passage for teens (many of our teenage patients love the way they look in their braces–they think they’re cool!). Braces work by applying pressure on the teeth, gradually moving them into the desired place. Traditional braces can often remedy more complex orthodontic issues that clear aligners may not be able to solve. If you are interested in discussing the differences or assessing your personal pros and cons, simply schedule an appointment to talk to us!
One of the challenges of teeth straightening is the time required to shift the bones. With today’s technology, we are now able to speed up any orthodontic process by up to 62%. An innovative system called Propel uses a technique called Micro-Osteoperforation™ (MOPs) to accelerate tooth movement. MOPs uses the body’s own biology to stimulate movement by strategic placement of small dimples that increase the rate bone can transition and shift.
Early interceptive orthodontic treatment is when we treat orthodontic problems before the eruption of all the permanent teeth, or when there are few permanent teeth present. Our goal is to guide the growth of the upper and or lower jaw to make enough space for the eruption of all the permanent teeth. Children should be evaluated by the age of four to see if there is a bone problem (orthopedic) or a tooth problem (orthodontic). If your child’s upper jaw is too narrow, or the lower jaw is underdeveloped, this will require a special appliance called a functional appliance to correct the problem. Minor tooth crowding can also be corrected early on in some instances with these appliances.
Dr. Rainey and Dr. Fritsche are general dentists performing orthondontic services.
